Over 1 Million Nokia 6 Registered Online For Flash Sale Scheduled On January 19

Posted: 18 Jan 2017 07:32 AM PST

For every one Nokia was their first phone. I am talking about the time when Smartphones were not in the picture. Siemens rode on the fortune it made from the apocalypse-proof Nokia phones. But the company started to lose its market share after the advent of the Google-powered Android OS. Nokia was one of the last manufacturers to embark upon the Android vessel and in the meantime, Nokia loyalists moved on to the relatively cheap and feature-rich Android-powered smartphones.

It seems now that after being bought by Microsoft, Nokia has now decided to shed Windows OS in favour of the Android OS for its upcoming smartphones. The upcoming Nokia 6 smartphone launched after Nokia sold its smartphone division to Foxconn and HMD Global has taken the smartphone market by surprise. Nokia 6 which is to be sold online first in China exclusively through JD.com has received over 1 million registration applications for the flash sale scheduled on January 19.

It was anticipated by market pundits that Nokia 6 will certainly create some new records as it is the first smartphone in the past three years to come out with a Nokia branding and on the top of it, Nokia 6 will run Android N. Around 250,000 people had already registered on JD.com in the first 24-hours after the registrations for Nokia 6 commenced.

To recall, Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch FHD display with an added protective layer of 2.5D Gorilla Glass. This dual-SIM smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC processor along with 4GB of RAM. Nokia 6 will come with 64GB of internal storage. Talking about the optics, Nokia 6 sports a 16MP rear camera which comes with autofocus, dual-tone flash and f/2.0 aperture and on the front is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. It also features a fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers which come with Dolby Atoms audio enhancements. Nokia 6 gets its juice from a 3000mAh battery which comes with fast-charging technology.

Nokia 6 is listed on JD.com at a price of CNY 1,699. HMD is planning to launch a whole series of Android powered Nokia smartphones in the upcoming time.

Nokia 8 Flagship Coming Soon To Lock Horns With iPhone 8 & Galaxy S8

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 01:01 PM PST

Update: This news turned out to be untrue as GSMArena has confirmed that the device in the video is a Qualcomm prototype and not the Nokia 8.

HMD Global recently launched the Nokia 6 and the surprised the whole world. Although, we all were expecting an Android Nokia device, but we’re expecting a Nokia flagship device clad with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC as the rumours had suggested. However, much to the dismay of many fans, the Nokia 6 turned out to be a mid-ranger. Also, as an additional blow to the hopes of fans, Nokia 6 will be a China-exclusive device.

But all of this is going to change very soon. Another Nokia Android device is on its way and it will be Nokia’s answer to the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 or shall we say a challenge before the iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S8. The upcoming Nokia flagship will in all probability be unveiled at the MWC 2017 which will kick off in Barcelona on 27 February.

According to a report published by GSMArena, the next Nokia Android flagship will be known as Nokia 8 and it will be unveiled at the MWC this year. According to this report, the Nokia 8 will come in two variants. There will be a  Snapdragon 821 variant with 4GB of RAM. However, it isn’t the one in which we are interested. The flagship variant will sport the mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 6GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of internal storage with microSD support. The USP of the Nokia 8 is the Carl Zeiss 24MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS).

A video has been released on YouTube showing these two variants. You can clearly see how the Snapdragon 835 variants clearly outperform the Snapdragon 821 variant in terms of OIS and EIS. No physical buttons can be seen on the front of these devices and the devices are expected to sport heart-rate monitor and Carl-Zeiss optics. Let’s hope that this device really is the much-fabled Nokia 8 and we get to see it during the MWC 2017. You can watch the video below.

How To Become A Windows Insider On Windows 10 And Receive The Preview Builds

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 10:54 AM PST

Windows 10 was commercially released in 2014, but the 'Windows Insider' program continues to be in existence even to this day. Windows Insider lets its users access to the latest Windows features before the commercial users get to look at it. The insider program was developed for testers by Microsoft to get a first-hand review of the new features before it can be rolled out to the public.

Curious Windows aficionados can get a taste of the Windows Insider program by getting a preview build of it. They just need to have a PC with Windows 10 installed in it. The preview edition is not for permanent, users can opt out anytime they want.

As is the case with every beta program, this Windows Insider preview build is only for people who wouldn't mind experiencing accidental bugs. As a caution, Windows Insider involves receiving features which are in their initial stage of development, so it can introduce some funny malfunctions in your computer. Microsoft has recommended not to try the Windows insider program on your main PC.

Now here is a complete guide on how to join the Windows Insider program:

  1. Sign into your PC with a Microsoft account, any other account won't do as the Windows Insider will use the same account for its functioning.
  2. Register on Windows Insider Program with your Microsoft account. Registration for Insider program is free and post registration you will be eligible for receiving Windows Insider builds.
  3. After registering, Open the Setting app on the PC which has the same Microsoft Account.
  4. Navigate and open "Update & Security".1-2-750x400 How To Become A Windows Insider On Windows 10 And Receive The Preview Builds

You can do so from Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics.

Reliance Jio Fiber Starts With 100 Mbps Speed Free For 3 Months

Posted: 13 Jan 2017 09:52 AM PST

According to The Huffington post, average broadband speed in India is just 3.5 Mbps which is insanely low considering the current government's plan to digitise the government. For a country comprising largely of youths, this speed looks dismal. Reliance Jio, which has already started an internet and telecom revolution is out again to deliver its promise of yet unrealized telco revolution with the introduction of high-speed fiber-based Broadband service in the city of Mumbai.

The Jio Fiber Service is said to deliver a speed of 100 Mbps, which seems a distant ray of hope considering the world renowned struggle of Indians with their internet speed. Reliance Jio created a stir in the Indian telecom industry with its free inaugural offers is all set to do it again, this time Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio will offer three months' free subscriptions to Jio Fiber Service.

According to India Today, Reliance Jio has already started its broadband services in some high rises of Mumbai. The subscription is yet restricted because the cable installation required to cover the whole city under its ambit is yet to be done. According to a resident on Walkeshwar Road of Mumbai, he and some other residents of his building are enjoying a speed ranging from 70 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

10-1 Reliance Jio Fiber Starts With 100 Mbps Speed Free For 3 Months

The initial phase of the rollout will soon be available in metro cities like Delhi, Chennai, and Pune and is expected to begin very soon. The Reliance Jio Fiber also offers a plan which can deliver speed up to 1 Gbps. Reliance Jio has stated that it will soon roll out the Jio Fiber to 100 Indian cities.
